Drawing Class 2

Here's another ditty from my drawing class.

It was crazy. I completely lost track of time while drawing this...which I guess means I was using the 'right' side of my brain.

Here's the text we're using for class:
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain

I forgot to mention that when class was over, I was helping clean up by putting the eggs (see above) back into the container for the instructor. When no one was looking, I drew faces on them with my charcoal pencil. I wonder if anyone noticed the next morning whilst making their scrambled eggs?

Boycott Wal-Mart?

I've been thinking about boycotting Wal-Mart. Here are the results from my Google search.

Google Search of 'Boycott Wal-Mart'

Besides all the reasons found on these other sites, another good one is this: The blackbirds that live in the parking lot of my local Wal-Mart look very, very sick. That can't be good.

Illustration Friday : Black & White : Sketch of the Bubby

Here's a quick Pure Contour Sketch of my little Bubby.
(Pure Contour is when you look at your subject, but not your pencil & paper. It's a drawing exercise that helps train you to draw what you see.) Kind of looks abstract. I like it. I was drawing as preparation for my art class last Tuesday. I guess I'll count this for my Illustration Friday submission this week, too. The theme for the week is Black & White.

Family Abstract

Here's an abstract I did of our family for above our Family Room Loveseat. I like it. It matches the paint from some of the other parts of our house. What you can't tell from this painting is that the baby is teething and that I'm not getting much sleep!

Alarm Clocks

Brian wrote a comment on my Digital Clock drawing...but I thought everyone should have a chance to read it. Not just those people who know how to FIND the comments (which would end up excluding almost my entire family, unfortunately)! So, for those of us/you who find yourselves more or less challenged in one way or another, here are Brian's thougths on Alarm Clocks for you to enjoy.

I hate alarm clocks. Unless it's on radio and they're playing something good when the alarm goes off. But then i just incorporate the song into my dream and then keep dreaming and sleeping and then...Holy snot! I'm almost late for work and have to take a 3.5 second shower and shave only half the face and hope nobody notices. And drive to work chugging coffee and eating a banana then at 9 or 10 am i'm so hungry and go searching the office halls for food, but find nothing and end up eating my lunch early and then have nothing for lunch only to leave me starving again by about 2:47pm and so i eat the apple i was saving for 5pm... Then i'm famished and dazed by the time i get home from work only to find that my dear wife had a rough day with the baby - so daddy get's to cook dinner, but the meat has to defrost first, so then we're eating at like 7:00pm. Then the baby goes to bed right after that and then someones gotta clean up, by that time it's 10pm and I'm starving again for something to eat. Rummage through the kitchen till i settle on a bowl of cereal - meanwhile the wifey is gettin' ready for bed and falls asleep just as i'm gettin' my second wind, so i stay up for a few minutes or so and end up going to be later than i should've - and the alarm clock is doing it's thing again way sooner than expected, but it's a good song so then i just incorporate the song into my dream and then keep dreaming and sleeping and then...Holy snot! I'm almost late for work...

Illustration Friday : Digital

This weeks theme (Digital) made me think of my dad's alarm clock when I was growing up. It was PRE-digital. It had these little cards (for lack of a better word) and when the minutes would change, the top half of the number would flip down, exposing a new number. I always thought it was so stinkin' cool. I loved when you had to change the time and could watch all these little cards flipping feverishly while you turned the dial. It was cool. Very. Cool.

Below is my 'digital' illustration. {And here is where I've taken out a self-deprecating comment.} I like that the numbers turned out a little bleary/bluzzy/blurry. That's exactly how it LOOKS in the morning, too!

[Ink snazzed with Illustrator.] Now that you mention it, it appears that my alarm clock is floating in space.

My Bag

Here's a sketch from my class Tuesday night. Hmm, I'm going to love this class!

Finally did it.

I did it. I. Did. It!

I finally signed up for a drawing class. Why is this such an amazing, stupdendous, splendiferous event? Because, silly, it's something I've wanted to do for at least 14 years. Fourteen. FOURTEEN! And I never had/have/did. Oh, in college, it didn't 'fit my schedule'. Good thing I got a degree I never use and never took what I really WANTED. I'm so sure.

I've got my paper. I've got my pencils. I've got my eraser. I've got my book. Wow.

The boys are staying home. Hope they have fun... What am I saying? I hope I have fun!

*round of applause*

*blush* Thanks. I knew you'd be proud of me.
