It's good for little hands as it is nice and soft and easy to manipulate.

1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp food coloring 

Mix the above over low heat. As it heats, add:

2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup flour

Stir  over low heat until the mixture starts to ball up, dry out, and pull  away from the sides. This recipe makes a real fun and interesting 'slime' for your kids to play with. 

1/2 cup Elmer's glue (this is a 4 oz. school sized bottle)
1 cup water

Mix.

In a separate bowl, mix:
1/4 tsp Borax
1/2 cup water
(The Borax won't dissolve but do the best you can.)

Add the borax mixture to the glue mixture and stir. It will thicken quickly at first, and then gradually.

STAGE AN ART SHOW

She  took a piece of artwork from each of her (little!) kids and placed them  in simple frames. Then she wrote up a 'bio' and printed them out along  with a photo of each kiddo. She displayed these next to the artwork of  each child - just like in a real art gallery! So cute. They are crazy colors and they do tend to get um, how  do I say this - ALL OVER THE PLACE.

I've found that an  old short sleeved t-shirt, preferably adult sized, makes a great smock.  It's nice and long and if the shoulders are too wide, you can cinch it  up in the back with a clothespin. Easy Breezy.

Here's a neat project you can do this Spring! It's called The Great Sunflower Project. Basically, you obtain a specific species of sunflower, plant 'em, and then take observations every so often after the flowers bloom. How many bees visit your flowers in a 15 minute period? We had a delightful stay. The hostess was great, the food was extra yummy, and the room &amp; view were very relaxing. Hubby enjoyed the hot tub for his aching back.

Here are some of the things I've tried and/or am doing to simplify my life. Only, they don't really make life more 'simple' (I think to myself as I walk out to investigate why the chickens are squawking up a storm at 5:30 am). Water Kefir! (Also known as homemade fruit soda.)

This batch is lemon/mint. Yums.

Here's the recipe:

1/2 cup turbinado sugar
12 raisins or so
1/4 lemon or if you're lazy, some lemon juice
1/8 tsp baking soda or so
A few sprigs of fresh homegrown mint (from my neighbor!)

But I like to make my own planners! Here's the old one (2006-2007).And the new one (2007-2008).My favorite part is making the covers. They are usually a collage sealed with Mod Podge (one of my all time favorites). I like sewing all the pages together, too. I learned bookmaking in a book I got from my friend Katie.
